IDIOM OF THE DAY: MISS THE BOAT

Hoy os voy a hablaros sobre el origen de la frase idiomática "to miss the boat", que como sabéis se usa para indicar que alguien ha perdido una oportunidad o se ha perdido algo por no actuar a tiempo o de manera oportuna.

Esta expresión se usó de manera muy literal y se cree que se originó en la jerga marina inglesa.

En el siglo XVIII esta expresión se convirtió en parte del habla cotidiana. Se usa más en inglés británico que en inglés americano.
